October: Climbing up Half Dome, Yosemite National Park
Before dawn, I departed from my unheated tent cabin in 25 degrees to begin the 14-hour day of a 18-mile r/t trek up 5000 feet, including 1000 carved-stone steps, to the last point...
where I then climbed up a further 400 feet on a 56-degree pitch along the granite rock face by pulling oneself up via the cable line to the top at 9000 feet.
